LEADERSHIP

PRINCIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Kevin Gavin

More than 25 years of experience in the commodity futures industry, including as a floor broker and trader at the Chicago Board of Trade, with subsequent roles at established futures brokerage firms.

OUR APPROACH

The trading program is built on a principle borrowed from intelligence and military doctrine: capability is preserved by restraint. Even elite units are not kept in continuous combat — they are committed deliberately, when the objective justifies it. That thinking shapes how the models are designed. Rather than seeking constant market exposure, the program is built to engage only when the evidence clears defined statistical thresholds, and to stand down when it does not. How often that occurs is a function of the market environment, not a target: in periods dense with meaningful, market-moving developments the models may identify more opportunities, while quieter environments may warrant far less activity. Every decision is rules-based and fully systematic, with no discretionary trading, and each position is governed by defined risk controls and stop-loss discipline.

TECHNOLOGY & RESEARCH

Nistar’s research and signal technology is licensed from an independent third-party provider whose method is modeled on the open-source intelligence (OSINT) discipline used by elite intelligence services: the practice of extracting meaning from vast volumes of publicly available information. Rather than reading price data alone, the provider’s systems continuously ingest public, open-source information from around the world — market and economic data, news, corporate and regulatory filings, and global events across multiple languages — and apply machine-learning models to connect disparate pieces of information and map how new developments tend to move futures markets. The team behind the technology brings backgrounds in intelligence-grade data analysis, and the models are built to surface patterns hidden in the noise, producing a trading signal only when the statistical evidence is strong.

Nistar Fund Management is solely responsible for all trading, execution, operations, compliance, and investor relations.
